Frequently asked

What do I have to do after signing up?

Upload your import records and fill out a short business info form. That's it. We handle the document analysis, account setup, filing, and submission. You'll receive email updates at each stage and a notification when your refund is being processed by CBP.

Do I need to log into the CBP portal?

No. We set up your ACE account and submit your CAPE declaration on your behalf. We handle the CBP interaction so you don't have to.

Do I need a customs broker?

No. Our service includes everything — document analysis, account setup, and filing. You don't need a separate customs broker.

How long does the whole process take?

After you upload your documents, we typically complete the analysis within 1–4 hours. ACE account setup takes 3–10 business days for CBP approval. Once approved, we submit your filing immediately. CBP then reviews the claim. Many eligible claims are processed within about 45 days, but timing depends on entry status, processing phase, and any compliance review.

What if I don't know my Importer of Record number?

That's common. For most small businesses, your IOR number is the same as your EIN. We'll confirm this during setup and make sure everything is correct.

How is the refund estimate calculated?

Our estimate is based on the import value and countries you report in the quiz, combined with published IEEPA rates. It is a rough, non-binding estimate. The actual refund amount is determined by CBP.

What documents do I need?

Anything that shows your 2025 imports: freight forwarder invoices, customs broker statements, entry summary forms, or spreadsheets. We handle PDFs, Excel, CSVs, and scanned images.

What happens if CBP denies or partially approves my claim?

We notify you by email with the reason CBP provided. If CBP needs additional information, we work with you to resolve it. Our service covers one filing per order — refiling or appeals would require a new service order. If we determine before filing that your shipments are not eligible, you receive a full refund.

What's your refund policy?

You are paying for preparation and submission — not a guaranteed recovery. Full refund if we determine before filing that your shipments are not eligible or your documents cannot be processed. We will tell you before filing if your case looks weak, incomplete, or likely to fall outside the current refund phase. No refund after a claim has been prepared and submitted, because the work has been completed.

Why pay for this instead of doing it myself?

Filing yourself means figuring out eligibility rules, gathering and organizing records, applying for a CBP portal account, enrolling for electronic refunds, preparing a CAPE-formatted filing, submitting it correctly, and monitoring the result. We do all of that for a flat fee so you can focus on running your business.

Is this service for me?

This service is for U.S. importers who paid qualifying 2025 IEEPA tariffs and have import records available. It is not for general customs disputes, non-IEEPA duties (such as Section 301 or Section 232), antidumping/countervailing duties, or individuals without authority to act for the importing business.

What if my customs broker was the importer of record?

If your broker filed as importer of record on your behalf, the refund claim is typically filed under their IOR number. We can work with your broker's records to determine eligibility. Contact us to discuss your specific situation.

What if I already filed a protest with CBP?

If you have an open protest related to IEEPA tariffs, the CAPE refund process may handle it differently. Contact us before signing up — we can review your situation and advise whether our service applies or whether the protest process is the better path.

What if I passed the tariff cost on to my customers?

Whether you absorbed the tariff or passed it through to customers does not affect your eligibility. The refund goes to the importer of record who paid the duties. How you handle it with your customers is a separate business decision.
